“In the
beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...All
things were made by Him; without him was not any thing made that was made..and the word was
made flesh and dwelt among us.” (John
1:1-5, 10-14)
Christmas
means God is over us, for us, with us
and in us!
I – He Is God Over Us – God is our Creator, sustainer, Judge, and the Alpha
and Omega .“For by him
were all things created, that are in
heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones
or dominions, or principalities or powers: all things were created by him and
for him.” (Colossians 1:16). He is our
sustainer. “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me,
and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do
nothing.” (John
15:5). He is our Judge. “For the Father judgeth no man, but
hath committed all judgment unto the Son.” (John 5:22). “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning
and the end, the first and the last.” (Revelation 22:13).
II – He is God For Us – Jesus is for us. He offered His life for us
though we were sinners. “But God commendeth his love toward
us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). “What shall we then say to these
things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
III – He Is God With Us - God is
with us...very close to us! God is with
us in our highest and lowest, fastest and farthest and lightest and darkest
moments of our lives. “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring
forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is,
God with us.” (Matthew 1:23).
“If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell,
behold, thou art there. If I
take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the
sea;
Even there shall thy hand
lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the
darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.Yea, the darkness hideth
not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.” (Psalm 138:8-12).
IV- He Is God In Us – Christ is
our hope, help and our haven of rest. “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this
mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory”
(Colossians 1:27). “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie,
promised before the world began” (Titus
1:2). “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I
will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28).
